Hands On Service

FCCW engages in many hands on service and volunteer projects throughout the year including:

+ Monthly support of the Wilmette Food Pantry

+ Monthly staffing of meals at Hilda’s Place Shelter, Evanston

+ Periodic collection and distribution of needed supplies, clothing, or goods for San Lucas UCC Chicago, Refugee One, Connections for the Homeless, and other groups

+ Annual School Supply Sort: We collect, sort, and redistribute gently used and brand new school supplies from the Wilmette Highcrest Middle School and Junior High locker clean out. We donate the school supplies to Connections for the Homeless, San Lucas UCC Chicago, La Casa Norte, Refugee One, and Rush Medical Center Pediatric Unit.

+ Annual Christmas/Three Kings Day gifts for children and youth served by San Lucas UCC, Chicago

Edisto+ Edisto Island Mission: We have a thirty year partnership with the people of Edisto Island, South Carolina, a sea island south of Charleston with heritage in the Gullah/Geechee culture.  Our ministries on the island have included home repair, and the founding of the Community Services of Edisto 501(c)(3) nonprofit agency. We donate annually to a scholarship fund which supports high school graduates from the island.  Since 2006, our Senior High Youth group and College interns have hosted Camp Edisto, a week-long summer day camp for K-5th grade children on the island.
